The Department of Nephrology of The
Fourth Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine was founded
upon the establishment of the hospital, develops along with the hospital and
has been listed as one of the first batch of key disciplines of Yiwu City. The
department consists of independent nephrology specialist wards, a blood
purification center and nephrology clinics and carries out various clinical,
training and scientific research work backed by the hospital's Clinical Skill
Training Center and Central Lab. The department can independently finish
diagnosis and treatment of a variety of primary and secondary nephritis,
refractory nephrotic syndrome, complex urinary tract infection, gene detection
of hereditary nephropathy, establishment and maintenance of vascular access in
uremic patients, peritoneal dialysis catheterization and follow-up. The
department has an abundance of experience especially in the refractory
nephrotic syndrome immunotherapy, blood purification treatment of critically ill
patients, establishment and maintenance of complex vascular access, multi-organ
function support and other aspects.
The Blood Purification Center is
configured with advanced hardware equipment such as internationally advanced
sterile non-heat source central water treatment system, plasma air purification
and disinfection device, ECG monitoring equipment and independent laminar flow
operation room and also has hemodialysis professionals with rich clinical
experience. The department provides hemodialysis for 15,000 patients every
year. In addition to maintenance hemodialysis, the department can also give
continuous renal replacement therapy, plasma exchange, hemoperfusion and
special anticoagulation techniques for rescue treatment of critically ill
patients.
At present, the department has 14
doctors, all of whom have a master's degree and above and 3 have a senior
professional title. The department also has a professional nursing team
composed of 42 nurses specialized in kidney diseases and blood purification and
all nursing staff have a bachelor's degree or above. The department is
well-equipped in both talents and technology.
Introduction to the Department features
1. Relying on safe
renal biopsy techniques and combined with high-tech means such as
cytomorphology, electron microscopic morphology analysis, multiple
immunohistochemistry/fluorescence staining, and molecular biology, we have
clearly defined the pathological types and grades of renal diseases and thus
provide a reliable standard for the immunosuppressive treatment of patients
with renal diseases. At the same time, we can also provide a variety of
immunosuppressant drug concentration detection, thus providing a basis for
accurate individualized drug use.
2. Relying on
stable renal replacement therapies (continuous renal replacement therapy,
hemofiltration, etc.), we have effectively curbed the progression of renal
diseases from the acute phase to the chronic phase, given plasma exchange,
blood perfusion and other technologies and provided organ support for
critically ill patients in other relevant departments.
3. We can finish
high-quality ultrasound-guided deep venous catheterization, internal fistula
formation and reconstruction, artificial vascular bypass, DSA-guided internal
fistula repair and laparoscopic abdominal catheterization, etc. The department
gives over 120 vascular access-related operations each year and has initiated
the ultrasound-guided balloon dilatation of internal fistulas, DSA-guided
dilatation of central venous stenosis and artificial blood vessel bypass in
Jinhua.
4. The department
has also offered individualized maintenance renal replacement therapy and
combined a variety of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis techniques to
maximize the survival time of uremic patients and improve their life quality.
5. The department
has carried out various specialized disease clinics, such as hypertensive
diabetic nephropathy clinic, abdominal peritoneal clinic and nephropathy
nutrition clinic and made long-term comprehensive follow-up and integrated
management of patients in different stages of renal diseases. (6) The
department has carried out scientific and rational treatment of integrated
traditional Chinese and Western medicine and addressed some problems with the
help of traditional Chinese medicine that Western medicine cannot solve.
