The Radiology Department of The Fourth AffiliatedHospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine,established relying on The First Affiliated Hospital, ZhejiangUniversity, has now developed into a comprehensive key department that combinesexamination, diagnosis and adjuvant therapy thinks to arduous efforts andpioneering spirit of all members. It undertakes the hospital’s various taskssuch as clinical treatment, health examination and scientific research & teaching.
The department takes prides in complete image documentation equipment andstrong technical strength. Now it owns over ten up-to-date equipment, which include1 1.5T MRI, 2 Spiral CT, 2 DSA Systems, 6 Double Plate DR, 1 DigitalGastrointestinal Imaging System, 1 Digital Mammography System, 1 Bone-DensityScanner and 5 Laser Imagers. The Digital Mammography System is of the most advanced high-end model in the region, known for itshigh image resolution, complete software functions, large information storageand fast imaging speed. 64-Slice Spiral CT is featured by strong image scanningand post-processing capabilities and is available for such operations as three-dimensionalimaging of all organs and great vessels, virtual scalpel and virtual endoscope.For DSA System, it can be used not only for peripheral conventionalinterventional therapy, but also for complex procedures like intracoronarystent implantation and cervicocerebral angiography.
The Radiology Department has a talent team with highereducation level, reasonable structure and great development potential. Itstechnical level of general radioscopy, CT, MRI and DSA intervention has been inthe leading position in the middle area of Zhejiang Province. Strongly supportedby the hospital leadership and led by Director YANG Hong, the department has createdan environment of earnest study and hard work, contributing to the continuouslyimproved diagnostic level with diagnostic compliance rate maintaining at over90% and effective scientific research evidenced by several published papers anda number of provincial/ministerial research projects. The academic leaders ofthe department are CHEN Feng who is the Director of the Radiology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital, ZhejiangUniversity and now the chief physician and doctoral supervisor, and YANG Hongwho is the Executive Director of the Radiology Departmentand Doctor of Medicine. At present, there are 2 chief physicians, 3 deputychief physicians, 1 senior engineer, 6 attending physicians, 8 physicians, 3physician assistants, 6 supervising technicians, 14 technicians, 3 supervisor nurses,6 nurses and 3 registrars.
Introduction to the Department features
(1) Having established a Medical Imaging Center in central ZhejiangProvince, formed a medical mall together with local major medical institutionsand carried out remote network consultation. Through remote consultation,diseases are diagnosed by film reading and raid and accurate diagnosis andtreatment are conducted for patients with difficult and critical diseases,playing a leading role in improving local medical level.
(2) Cooperating with Neurology Department and Neurosurgery Department to carry out one-stop examination foracute cerebral infarction: head - CTA – CTP diagnosis and treatment, savingvaluable time for patients and greatly improving the survival rate and qualityof life of patients with acute cerebral infarction.
(3) Doing well in the diagnosis of various intractableabdominal diseases, including molecular imaging diagnosis and accuratediagnosis of liver tumor by liver targeting contrast agent, which plays animportant role in early intervention and treatment of these patients.
(4) Thedepartment takes the lead in providing outpatient services for diagnosis & treatmentof difficult cases and minimally invasive interventional therapy for tumors,and has performed various interventional operations, including: interventionaltreatment of benign and malignant tumors (TACE, radiofrequency ablation, etc.),acute abdomen bleeding, needle biopsy and catheter placement for ileus and othernew techniques in the middle area of Zhejiang Province.
