A New Era for International Medical Compensation Is Carried along

“It’s very convenient to me, I don’t need to go to Hangzhou or Shanghai ever, it’s great here!” said Mattews on March 29, a patient in VIP department for the international outpatients.

Mattews, a teacher in Maple Leave International School in Yiwu, is suffering from a strained thigh muscle in her right leg, which was caused the other day when she was collecting her items. Her neglect led the pain to get increased the next day. Upon learning that a direct payment of MSH commercial insurance could be addressed in the Fourth Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine, the teacher in great delight wasted no time in rushing to the hospital, together with her health-insurance card.

According to Mattews, fees in terms of medical services had to be first paid by her colleagues themselves in the earlier days, and their compensation could not be got before sending back to the insurance agency a corresponding form as well as medical treatment documents. By doing so, much trouble came along. However, now a health-insurance card is enough to see the doctor instead, thanks to much relief the partnership between the Hospital and MSH invites for the foreign patients as regards the procedure of medical compensation.

As the first patient with international medical insurance compensation, Mattews has been accompanied with by corresponding staff members all along the way, in case that anything unexpected happens. In return, there is always a smile on the face of Mattews, who awaits her services with patience. With the help of the nurse HE Jiangqin from the international department, the orthopedic surgeon TENG Chong is found to treat Mattews. During the course, Doctor TENG delivers a successful diagnosis with fluent English, which has left a pretty good impression on the patient. Praises thus come from Mattews for the language speaking ability of the doctor and considerate services by the other medical fellows.

As a key county-level city as to international trading of the B&R Initiative, Yiwu boasts the largest number of standing foreign enterprises across China, where 15,000 overseas business people from over 100 countries permanently live or engage in trade. Annually, people delivering purchases in Yiwu amount to more than 400,000. However, on the other hand, such people are often confronted with the difficulty addressing medical insurance compensation or with the language obstacles, when seeing a doctor locally. Correspondingly, an agreement was reached in February this year between the Fourth Hospital and MSH CHINA, a largest international insurance agency for foreign expats. Accordingly, the Fourth Hospital thus has become the only hospital in the central Zhejiang province (China), accredited to provide outbound fellows with medical services corresponding to insurances, which is a badge of internationalization in the hospital. It is reported that among such figures as involved in the very insurances, teachers and their family members from Maple Leave International School in Yiwu have shared a remarkable part numbering over 40, and some others are from businesspersons.

Yiwu is a city dealing with global trade from people with a diversity of backgrounds, under such a condition, introduction of MSH CHINA marks the first step for the hospital in its delivery of health services internationally. Also, the event embodies the hospital to usher in a new phase and a new era of its medical services in the given field. In the time to come, more insurance services will be brought in and lend themselves to the development of the city, thus promising more convenience to our foreign counterparts.
